Sony (F4i) Uninstaller is error prone too

In Mark Russinovich’s latest blog entry this morning: Sony: No More Rootkit – For Now, he includes details from Matti Nikki about bugs in the ActiveX control that Sony force you to install if you want to remove their software.

"the First 4 Internet control contains scriptable methods that can be activated without the user’s knowledge or consent. Matti Nikki’s site demonstrates how he can reboot your system using one of the methods."

So now once you’ve removed the threat from Sony’s rootkit, this ActiveX control from F4i will still languish on your system as another threat.
